Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself, I bought this '68 500 about a month ago and recently found this website. I have been a Moparts memeber for a long time now, but haven't had a Mopar since the '71 Charger I drove in high school (back in '85-'86) Hence the Nocar part of the screen name. was planning on changing the screen name to something else, but I am on a few different fourums under that name so too confusing....enough about me here are a few pictures of the car, and bare with me when the dumb questions start flying

Well sit down for the Charger story, still pisses me off how that one got away... Go back to about 1984 I'm 16, Grandma lives in California and has a rock solid, rust free '71 Charger S/E, 383 car in the garage, now playing 2nd fiddle to the new Cadillac. I'm thinking as soon as I can scrape up some cash,I'll try and buy it from her...meanwhile my older brother (not a car guy) goes to stay with her to go to college. She lets him drive it while he's there. So instead of putting a wheel to the slightly sun faded paint, he takes it to Earl Shieb (AGAIN, NOT A CAR GUY) Bro moves back to Michigan, Grams gives him the car because she figured since he spent his own money on the paint job, he should have the car (yes my grandma is a sweetheart)
Back in Michigan, I'm keep on my brother that somehow I needed to own the Charger. Luckily he takes a job as a Dominos Pizza delivery guy and realizes he needs something that gets good MPG. Bingo! Well almost, I never got the title. The Charger is now in my hands, And with in a few months transformed from grandmamobile to street cruiser, new intake, carb, headers... threw on some Crager SS's and Eagle ST's and drove it for for the dry month's my junior and senior year in high school. This is where it gets interesting, big bro decides to move to Utah, and since he owes my mom the money he borrowed to buy the rice burner he was delivering pizzas with he decides to give the Nissan to her and take the Charger with him...WHAT! Okay it gets worse...He's in Utah working part time at a gas station pumping gas, (remember this was 1987, they still had people pump gas at some staions.) Well the Charger is running kind of rough and the Station owner offers him $500 for the car, instead of adjusting the carb the Mot*%##*!ther F***$##!!*er sells it to him!! UGGH! dosen't bother telling me about it for months, and I think it slipped out accidentally when he did. Needless to say I was out of my mind... I sent him classified ads for '71 Chargers for years to let him know what an idgit move that was. Don't get me wrong, this didn't affect our brotherly relationship, he was still family, I just liked to rub it in, as any good brother would do.
So recently I was browesing through Craigslist and came accross this Coronet that is 10 minutes from my house, I say to my wife and kids "how would you like to check out this car" we pile in my truck run over there and instanly fell in love with it, but thought No way, can't afford it..Blah Blah Blah...My wife says "well it's nice and you know you want it" ...
I justify it to myself that if I sell my motorcycle and my old truck I could actually swing it....
Anyone want to buy a motorcycle or old truck?

wow - what a fantastic story and thank you so much for taking the time to share it!!! ...many emotion's there and I'm glad it didn't ruin a sibling relationship. Now here's a question (imagine that! lol) do you know what ever became of the car after it was sold? Congratulations on the Coronet, it is very well deserved! OH! And just outta curiosity, how old is the old truck?

I actually got ahold of the guy that bought it from my brother about 10 years ago and he was willing to sell it to me for $2500, which would have been a deal except that at the time it was completely dissasembled with a bunch of the parts in the trunk waiting to be repainted after a couple years of being a lawn ornimate . I was to bummed to fly out and see it. i tried again about a year ago and the guy never responded to my letter...
When I bought the Coronet I jokingly sent my brother a bill for 21 years of emotional anguish and mental distress to amount of $10,000...I think he finally realized what a bone headed move it was to sell it because he emailed a long apology on how thoughtless he was...
