I need some more help on a particular part for my friends 1973 Charger SE and the part in question is on a soon to end auction, so hopefully someone can help me out so he doesn't miss out on the part if it's correct for his car.

So we know what parts will be involved let me give you the basics.

1973 Charger SE 2 door hardtop (originally factory equipped with a 318 and a 904 column shift automatic)

Converting the car to a 1969 440 and matching 727 automatic transmission from a 1969 Charger R/T. Will also be converting the column shift set-up to a factory 1973 Charger floor console which he's already purchased and a factory style 73 Charger floor shifter if we can locate a complete assembly.

Original 8.25 rear axle assembly with be swapped out for a 8.75 unit with Sure-Grip and possibly a 3.23, or 3.55 gear ratio.

Ok, here's my question for those of you who are knowledgeable about these 1971-1974 B-Body cars, or 727 transmission mounts in general.

I've found an n.o.s. rear engine and transmission mount for my friend to use with the new big block set-up mentioned above and when I verified the applications for this part number (2533145), the information below is what I found in my 1966 through 1974 Factory Parts Books. The three pictures of this part are below so you can see what I'm asking about here.

So after seeing all of the above information, it looks as if Chrysler used three different part numbers for this rear engine and transmissopn mount from 1966 through 1974. Since my friend will be installing the 1969 440 and it's matching 1969 big block 727 transmission into his 1973 Charger, I would assume that he will need to use one of the part number 2533145 mounts correct? To be perfectly honest, I was under the impression that all of the big block 727 automatic transmission cases were identical from 1966 through 1974, so why would there be different part numbers used on the 1971 through 1974 cars?

Any thoughts would be very appreciated so that if part number 2533145 is correct for his application, he can purchase it before the auction expires. http://www.mymopar.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/thankyou.gif

I believe it's because of the different trans cross member use in 1974.

This might help

I don't think that mount will work on the `73 cross member, you need other choice shown in link and will bolt to `69 transmission

Thanks very much guys and that does make sense because I'm finding as I dig deeper into parts for this 73 Charger that many things are completely different suspension wise from the 1970 and earlier cars and I'm even finding many differences between 1971, 1972 and the 1973-74 Charger models.

Andy, is this the spool transmission mount that you wanted me to look at that will allow the 1969 transmission to be installed into this 73 Charger? Part #TMBT.

Thats it Richard, the flange that bolts to trans you will see is the same on both mounts

Should look like old one bolted to 904 that came out. Might check that first, you can buy just poly/rubber part for it.

Thanks Andy, we will have to look into that.

I'm going to feel much better when my friend has the special conversion motor and transmission mounts on hand to mount the 69 440 and matching 727 transmission into this car, as that looks to be the biggest challenge drivetrain wise. I'm also going to need to find him a "971" Chrysler center sump oil pan so that the pan will clear the different style k-frame that this car has. Like me, he isn't a fan of running headers on a street car, so I've suggested that he purchase a set of the 1968-69 factory HP exhaust manifolds and he's also been looking at the TTI exhaust system packages, so that should make doing the new exhaust system much easier.
