Mine won't bolt up other way, the housing hits the down tube of the stand.. Most I can do is maybe loosen the bolts to lower it a little.
Andy is right about one thing.. once you loosen the lock nut or remove that pin, hang on. Unlike a motor where the weight is distributed more, this has all the weight up top, and once it' starts moving.. oh boy..

Thanks Mike, that's kinda what I thought. It looked like it might interfere if trying to bolt on the other way, but couldn't tell for sure from the photo. A guy just has to be careful when rotating I guess.
