Will my rebuilt 440 fit with my stock 67 RT hood?

I just finished rebuilding my 440 with and Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake and a Holley dual feed 1000 CFM carb... just wondering if my hood will need alterations? I prefer to keep the original air cleaner but not essential. Also I spent a lot of time making my original hood perfect for paint! Any comments or assistance would be appreciated. Cheers!

I run a similar set up...you might be close without a spacer, on my 67 it hits even before you put the air cleaner on

I ran similar setup on my 67 also with the stock hood. Even without a spacer, I had to run a Moroso drop base air cleaner, and with one it was really close to touching.

Thanks for the suggestions... I was so revved up about getting the most out of the 440 and neglected the clearance issue.

I stuffed a 383 in a 69 Dart with a hi rise intake and needed an extra 1/4 inch to clear the hood. I LOWERED THE ENGINE. I cut 4 spacers out of 3/8 aluminum plate and intsalled them between the k frame and the frame rails. Dropped the engine 3/8 lower in the engine bay, no problems with steering linkage.

I might argue that you raised the car, not lowered the engine. LOL That wan one way to do it.

Well, if you slacken the torsion bars an equal amount then yes, you would lower the engine.
