Hi Newbie from IL with a 1950
#1
Hi,

I just picked up a 1950 Coronet Sunday and here I am Monday lol. This is my 1st Coronet and really pretty much green on these in general. Was wondering if anyone has seen this one before and could fill me in on it if they have. I was told it was numbers matching and pretty much original but of course its not 100% as seen. I have a trunk full of parts so that helps. Its turn key and a runner. Had it doing 40 MPH around the neighborhood and she drove great for the age. Was told it runs on the highway at normal speeds all day. Either way... I'm just glad its a running project so it keeps me motivated or so I hope. Let me know what you all think of this one.

Pretty sure you all will hear from me more.. Maybe a good thing maybe not lol. Time to go browsing around and see what I can find on here.

By the way.. The previous owner filled in the trim holes but a crappy bondo job. I'm going to sand it all down and thinking of either reinstalling all the trim or at least filling the holes right with a welder. If that's all I got to think about, I should be in good shape with this one.

Restore or Customize?

Nice 50 Ghost. You'll find a bunch of members with early Coronets here.

My vote is to try the trim back on. That is if it's in good enough shape.

Good luck with your new project.

looks like a good start! I say custom but build it how YOU want it. I would put in a 318 with an OD trans.

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I was leaning to customizing it. This is my 1st 50's car. Should be fun. I have the original owner dropping off a box of original parts Wednesday including the wheels etc... Hopefully, he shows up!
