what would cause a coil not to spark? all ignition parts were replaced appr year ago.car sat as long while worked on and life obstacles.tried starting to test brakes turns over checked coil output with spark plug no spark.i have 6+ volts at +on coil to neg battery post.across coil about 2v with key on,i put jumper from -on coil to neg post of batt.still no spark at cranking.1.3 ohms on coil .anything im missing here?thanks i checked forum and dodge repair book.it is still 6v pos grd

Make sure your points are working. Also you can test the coil by applying 6v to the coil, ground the neg. (remove wires first). When you pull one of the wire off the coil it will make one spark. You will need to put a plug wire on the coil and put a plug on the other end to see the spark. I bet the points got dirty.

I read somewhere to run a jumper from neg coil to neg post that didn't work.it never said to remove wires from coil hope i didn't make it worse

findings: wire off from dist.to pos coil. pos of coil to block 6v ,neg of coil to block 6v with key on. wire from dist to neg battery 6v. test light between dist wire and pos coil while cranking blinks. grounded plug to block and secondary output of coil no spark.

update located old condenser swapped out new.now fire.hooked back up started right up

These old cars are like" the red head step child"..always giving you head aches. After all the work on the brakes ,having pedal travel before braking. Back to drawing board
