1966-67 B-Body Headliner Sail Panel Boards On Ebay
#1
I've been wanting to purchase a new set of these headliner sail panel boards for my 1966 Coronet 500 for awhile now, so when I saw these for a very nice price I purchased a set today. I'll let you all know how I like them after they arrive. They do look like they are very nicely done.

It looks as if they are also offered in white as well.

I agree Andy and they are being offered at a very reasonable price as well!

As far as matching the original headliner material, my Coronet still has it's original factory installed black headliner and black sail panel boards in place, so I'll give you an update and some pictures as soon as these new reproduction sail panel boards arrive!

My '66 does not use these . . .

On the 1966 (and I believe the 1967) Dodge Coronet 2 door hardtop models, these sail panel boards are located underneath the cloth headliner on the "C" pillars so that you have a surface on the rear "C" pillars to attach the cloth tails of the headliner to, so having them covered in material really isn't important on my 66 500 as I had originally thought.

This style of sail panel boards are for use on 2 door hardtops models only, as obviously convertible models with folding tops don't have them and 2 and 4 door sedans are different as well.

I will say that I did miss one important possible design flaw regarding these reproduction sail panel boards. I forgot that my 66 500 has the upgraded 500 trim level courtesy lights mounted in the interior side of rear "C" pillars and these lights were also optional on the 2 door hardtop 440 trim level cars as well and these sail panel boards don't look to have provisions for those lights, so I'll have to look at that when they arrive. It may be that the half circle that is cut out of the backside of the board is where the wiring passes through the board from the backside of the lights and then into the "C" pillar.

A picture of another 66 Coronet 500's interior showing the "C" pillar mounted courtesy light.

The boards we have were simple cardboard with pre-punched cut outs for the lights if equipped. (be cool to have!)
I don't understand the point of colors since these are concealed under the headliner? After seeing those above I was thinking that cars with the lights possibly had a separate headliner-material-covered C-pillar trim piece. But Bankers picture shows the headliner as one piece on the C-pillar. Originals pictured below.

Excellent picture there Blue. I agree that these 1966-1967 B-Body sail panel boards don't need to be covered in headliner material because they are supposed to be placed on the "C" pillar area behind the cloth headliner, but that's not what bothers me the most on these reproduction parts, because that can be dealt with. The fact that they have no provisions for the "C" pillar mounted courtesy lights makes them a no go for me. They are well made, just a shame they don't fit all of the applications that the seller says they do.
