I would like to upgrade my rear axle on my '58 dodge coronet. Does anyone know what are some compatible options? Preferably something with rear disc brakes would be nice.
My rear brake drums are shot and it's difficult to find replacements. So maybe it's time to upgrade the whole rear axle?

Look at options like a Dakota rear assembly. Early ones are still 5 lug. I put one on a `56 Plaza and it wasn't far off.

What year range should I look at for the Dakota? Is there any models I should use or would all models work?

`87-90 are best due to 5 on 4.5 axle shafts. Later had 6 bolt. Plan on replacing the leaf spring pads and driveshaft.
