Hey guys, I have a quick question, on my 71 318 if i go wot from idle, either in neutral or gear, the car bogs down a little bit than kicks up into the higher rpms. If that makes sense. I have replaced the plugs and wires, rebuilt the carb and it is getting new points and condenser in a few days. We checked the timing and it seems to be good, but what do most of you guys run your timing at? Any ideas about the stutter?

Get your ignition system in proper working order first, most common problems lie there, then start looking elsewhere if you need to.
How about converting to el ign?

Your timing should be 0 degrees @ idle. Sounds like you might have accelerator pump issues.

Are you getting a steady stream of fuel out of the carb when the gas is pumped? As said above it could be the acceleror pump

You might have to buy a complete carb kit that will come with new pump, all the new gaskets will come in handy anyway
