As we've spoken about in length regarding this topic, it's not easy finding answers to these types of questions so many years after these cars were new, because not only did Chrysler keep lousy records on these types of options, a customer could walk into a Dodge, Plymouth, or Chrysler dealership and order a car with just about any accessory they wanted, so there really isn't a correct, or incorrect answer to these wood grain steering wheels, but from what I've seen over the years, all of the A-Body cars and most 1966 and 1967 B-Body cars that were equipped with the wood grain steering wheels came with the chrome horn button and all of the 1966 and 1967 Chargers came with the padded horn button. From 1968 and up, I've seen most if not all of the B-Body cars equipped with the padded horn button.
Just speaking from my own personal preference, I like the chrome horn button on all of the A body cars and all of the 1966 and 1967 B-Body cars with the exception of the Dodge Chargers, but it really comes down to what each owner likes on their own cars.

Has anyone considered it could be related to model level?
Reference 8-33-17 in the '66 parts book where colored pads are shown for different models and trims.
Remember, Charger and Coronet 500 models used the same P4* trim code.
Remember, much of the 66 parts book refers to a Charger model as "WP Charger". References to "WP" can mean a part common to both a Coronet 500 and a Charger.
Has anyone checked '66 Coronet/Charger broadcast sheets?
I don't have that many but my WH and WP sheets under STEERING WHEEL AND HORN RING (third line from the bottom) show a part number of 14* where * equals a color code R, X, T etc.
My one WL BS shows 12V (different part. Not sure yet what the V is)
I have one WP sheet that shows 17T. (wood grain wheel related)
It appears WL models are different than WH AND WP. So maybe if one compares what came on a Dart to what came on a Coronet, one may want to consider what trim level is being discussed.
Just tossing that out there. Your thoughts?

Wait until I post a pic my vert, bench seat, 4 speed floor shifter. I can't find one like it anywhere; it has a solid knob on top with a "T" handle (for reverse) just below the knob. I have lots of chroming to do... ugh.
