Bumper Guards -66 Coronet
#1
Hi again!!

Does someone in this great forum know if it's possible to buy Bumper Guards somewhere?

New (are there any aftermarket?), NOS or used - All info appreciated

(Have seen the rubber inserts on Ebay, but not the chrome parts)

Like the looks with these mounted Smile

Since the picture was taken ... new tires in the back (same as the front tires)...:-)

BE&A used to have them, but they are not around anymore. Their twin is PG Classics, so they should have the too.

PG Classic:
They had front and rear bumper guards to Charger 66..
Just want to verify with you - these b.guards are the same as the Coronet?

Double check and see if the original part#'s for both cars are the same.
Objects quickly DISAPPEAR in the rearview mirror and PLEASE stay seated until the ride comes to a complete stop!!

Richard can confirm.

I had an extensive talk with the owner of BE&A on this. He was adamant that the 66 bumper guards are different because a friend of his test fit them on a 67and they didn't fit right.

The bumper shape is identical on both 66 and 67s. So I bought a pair of their 66s and test fit them on, well,...ahhh... quite a few different bumpers on various 66 and 67 specimens. What I figured out was that the problem lies with rechromed bumpers. When they fix dents before rechroming, they alter the shape of the bumper in ways that you will never notice by eye. So if you put a bumper guard on a slightly misshaped rechromed bumper, you'll notice it doesn't fit quite right.

So go ahead and get the 66 ones, they will fit if your bumper is not too reshaped.

We encountered this as well. Our bumpers were originals and straight. The shape of the guards we rounded up were all very similar. It was the cutouts to fit the bumper that varied. NOT saying 66-67's are different. Just be certain before purchasing. Must be other cars that have the same shape guard but totally different bumpers. Maybe make a template at the mount hole of the bumper to have if you run across a good set.
Now the other question...mounting locations on the bumper. Close to center or spaced out? Seen both. Believe inner is correct for a Coronet. Maybe outboard was a Charger?

I've something similar before also. The mounting bolt on the guard is in a different spot than the one taken off.

It's possible that during the production run they changed suppliers, or the design was changed for one reason or another.
I love Mopars so much I'm date coding the skid marks in my underwear.

Hi guys!

Long time since I posted something on the forum.. (but I do read a lot of the threads..Wink

Today I order a pair of rear bumper guards from PG Classics MOPAR 2533 521 (Thanks Richard). PG named them 66 Charger 1199-66R

Hope they will fit nicely ..

They sell to (labeled) Charger 66 Front also but it's wrong!! They are 67 ... be aware! so I skip those..

Goal: Giving a Little more Life to the rear end...:-)

Have a great day

Regards
